WHAT is Rootwell?

Trees need water, nutrients, and oxygen to thrive.  They also need space to grow healthy roots.  ROOTWELL is a root aeration and nutrient delivery device created to bring enhanced growth and solutions to trees in family yards, parks, cityscapes, and many other locations.  These units have been specifically engineered to allow oxygen, water and nutrient movement in compacted soils.  These units help in two primary areas: new tree installations and urban trees in struggle.

HOW Does Rootwell Help?

1.  New Tree Installations:  When a new tree is removed from the farm, it is either placed into a container or its roots are bound in burlap, creating a ball.  This process can remove as much as 50% of a tree's root structure!  As the tree is waiting to be planted, it is often watered through small tubes, which encourage fibrous roots to grow in the center of the root ball.  By the time this tree is planted, its roots have often tangled and grown around the trunk of the tree.

2.  Urban Trees in Struggle:  When a tree lives in compacted soils, air, water and nutrients are unable to penetrate into the hard ground.  This results in surface roots as the tree strains to gather water and oxygen.

WHERE Can I Find Out More?

If you want to promote root growth and encourage tree vitality, Rootwell is the answer.  Unfortunately, Rootwell is a tool that few Arborists know about and use.  TreeMasters has used Rootwell in several locations, however, and we have seen tremendous success!  You can contact us at the office if you have questions about the trees on your property.  We wrote about Rootwell on our blog, too; you can read those posts here and here.
