Mosquitoes

"Anyone who thinks that they are too small to make a difference has never tried to fall asleep with a mosquito in the room."
~Christie Todd Whitman

Yikes! Do all these mosquito pictures make you itchy? The Culex mosquito is one of our most aggressive native pests.
If you have a backyard patio or a front porch, you know how frustrating it can be when summer comes… and so do the mosquitoes, flies, and yellow jackets. In fact, insect control has been a headache for homeowners for decades. As suburban development takes hold of a region, more breeding sites are created, and control of these pests becomes increasingly difficult!
Weekly emptying of bird baths and watering cans will make a difference in the mosquito populations attacking you and your family at home. For water features and drains which can’t be emptied, use of larvicides is recommended.  That’s the first step: disrupting the larval stage.  Oftentimes, though, preventing the bugs from hatching on your property isn’t enough.  Creating a buffer zone will give you a bug-free area around your home.
Many people are becoming more concerned about mosquito-borne viruses, and most homeowners have tried everything from bug zappers to citronella candles with varying degrees of success. Many of these methods of insect control have proven to be ineffective or unreliable, while others require intensive labor and regular maintenance.
For years, TreeMasters has offered thermal fogging options to our clients who have trouble with mosquitoes.  This is ideal if you are hosting an outdoor event or gathering, because it will quickly clear a large area of flying insects for about 48 hours. Graduations, weddings, pool parties and bonfires can be pest-free (except for maybe your neighbor or your brother-in-law!).
If you’re looking for ongoing control, the Auto Mist System might be what you’re looking for! Auto Mist systems provide daily control for your deck, patio, pool or entry ways. Versatile and engineered specifically for your property, this system can be installed to cover 500 square feet or 50,000 square feet. A central control panel/reservoir manages the application and spray agent. Only low-risk pesticides are used; the same ones put in dog shampoo and tick/flea collars. we do offer an all natural, herb oil extract, as well, if homeowners prefer that.

The Asian Tiger Mosquito isn't native to the US, but it has recently been spotted here. This mosquito is a vector for many viral pathogens, including the Zika Virus.
If you’re getting tired of being ‘bugged’ by mosquitoes and other flying insects, contact us!  We’ll make sure you can enjoy your oasis for the rest of the summer.
